Studio UI UX Designer Specialist Senior

Location: WellSpan Health, York, PA
Schedule: Full Time

General Summary

This role focuses on designing and delivering intuitive, high quality user interfaces and experiences across digital products and platforms. The work emphasizes creating visually cohesive, accessible, and usable designs by translating user needs, business requirements, and technical constraints into clear interface and interaction solutions. The role applies advanced UI/UX design expertise throughout the product lifecycle, from early concept development through final production and ongoing refinement, while collaborating regularly with researchers, engineers, platform architects and product managers.

Reporting to the UI/UX Design Manager, you will be a hands-on designer on a small, high-performing design team focused on delivering high-quality digital experiences. You will work as part of a larger, collaborative product team, partnering closely with researchers, engineers, platform architects, and product managers. This role is ideal for a mid-to-senior level designer who excels in visual design, thrives in shaping and refining user experiences, and brings ideas from early concept through production-ready execution.

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Leads the visual execution of digital products by delivering production ready, on brand UI designs using Figma and related design tools, applying advanced principles of typography, layout, color, interaction, accessibility, motion, and design system standards
  • Frames complex problems, uncovers insights, and identifies opportunities using human-centered design methods, translating research and strategy into impactful design solutions.
  • Translates strategic and product goals into compelling, fully designed, and testable prototypes across a range of digital platforms and experiences.
  • Partners with cross-functional teams and leadership to solve problems, advocates for user needs, and continuously raises the quality of WellSpan's digital experiences.
  • Contributes to and evolves WellSpan's production-grade design system, collaborating closely with development partners to ensure alignment between design and code. Manages, modifies and designs for Corporate design system-including component libraries, variables, and token-based systems synced with development.
  • Leads user testing and translating feedback, usability findings, and analytics into informed design decisions and validated outcomes. Applies design thinking methodologies to rapidly iterate on concepts, tests assumptions, and refines solutions based on evidence.
  • Assists and leads general design projects, including slide decks, icons, digital signage and any other needs while ensuring all outputs meet brand standards and project requirements.
  • Thoughtfully leverages AI-powered tools to enhance efficiency, ideation, content creation, accessibility checks, and design exploration-while maintaining strong design judgment and craft.
  • Provides UX expertise throughout the full product lifecycle, supporting build, testing, and implementation phases to ensure high-quality outcomes.
  • Clearly and persuasively presents design concepts to stakeholders and team members, using strong storytelling, documentation, and presentation skills to drive alignment, decisions, and outcomes.
  • Stays curious and engaged at the intersection of people, process, technology, and business, with particular interest in evolving design tools, systems, and practices.
  • Manages priorities, meets deadlines, and demonstrates design leadership through influence, mentorship, and delivery.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

  • Associates Degree Required
  • Bachelors Degree Preferred

Work Experience:

  • 4 years Applicable visual design and creative experience Required
  • 3 years as a UX practitioner in highly collaborative environments Preferred
  • Experience facilitating a breadth of project management and design methodologies Preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience and Portfolio: 4+ years of professional UX, UI, or Product Design experience within collaborative product teams, supported by a portfolio demonstrating strong UI craft, end to end UX thinking, production quality work, and experience with complex products or systems.
  • Design and Systems Expertise: Advanced proficiency in visual design, interaction design, usability, accessibility, prototyping, and information architecture, with experience contributing to enterprise scale design systems integrated with development, including component and token based systems.
  • Tools, Education and Technical Awareness: Strong proficiency in Figma (required), including components, variables, and system libraries; ability to incorporate AI enhanced tools into design workflows; degree or equivalent professional experience in design or UX with working knowledge of design to development workflows.
