Emergency Medicine Pharmacy Resident II

Full-Time: 40 Hours/Weekly

General Summary

Participates in residency training designed to prepare for the independent practice as a critical care pharmacy specialist. Participates in selection, preparation, and timely distribution of medications to ensure optimal patient care. Essential Functions:

  • Ensures therapeutic optimization of medication regimens while participating on interdisciplinary care rounds.
  • Performs antimicrobial stewardship monitoring.
  • Completes pharmacokinetic, anticoagulant, and TPN consultations.
  • Assists in code response and trauma resuscitations when assigned to each responsibility.
  • Creates and implements evidence-based protocols.
  • Performs quarterly patient case and journal club presentations.
  • Completes two residency research projects throughout the year.
  • Precepts PGY1 pharmacy residents in simulation lab for medical emergencies.
  • Assists in the education of nurses, pharmacy and medical students, and residents.
  • Serves as editor and contributing author to the Pharmacy Forum newsletter.
  • Attends teaching conferences, lectures, and rounds on a regular basis.
  • Completes and maintains documentation as appropriate.
  • Assists in schedule development for the PGY2 and PGY1 pharmacy residents.
  • Staffs the central inpatient pharmacy every fourth weekend and covers ICU float position one five hour evening each week.

  • Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through optimization of medication regimens.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

  • Doctorate Of Pharmacy Required or
  • Bachelors Degree Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy Required

Licenses:

  • Licensed Registered Pharmacist Upon Hire Required

Courses and Training:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of pharmacy. Upon Hire Required
  • Post Grad Year 1 Pharmacy Residency. Upon Hire Required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrates interest in completing a critical care residency during PGY-1 residency at York Hospital.
  • Must receive approval and selection by clinical pharmacist staff for service as PGY-2 critical care pharmacy resident.
