Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer

Location: WellSpan Health, York, PA
Schedule: Full Time

General Summary

This position is a key Financial leader responsible for all WellSpan accounting and financial operations including general accounting, accounts payable, provider compensation, payroll tax, Health plan performance, audit and other governmental audit activities. Manages and mentors a team of seasoned professionals tasked with the execution of the functions that support the success of this position. Establishes and maintains all financial policies and procedure for the organization. Provides reporting leadership to meet the needs of a $4.5 billion organization.

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Leads activities related to the System's financial functions including general ledger, accounts payable, payroll, time and attendance oversight, tax, third party AR (non-Epic), compliance oversight in relation to accounting policies.
  • Responsible for all external audit functions of the Organization and ensure all Financials are prepared in accordance with GAAP. Prepares and communicates to Audit Committee year end results.
  • Responsible for the general accounting function, technical accounting, development and application of internal controls, overall monthly close process and financial consolidations of the Organization.
  • Oversees all financial general ledgers and consolidation system to provide complete and accurate records of the Organization's assets, liabilities, and financial transactions.
  • Responsible for approving the net revenue model for the organization and financial impact monthly.
  • Ensures that leases are compliant from accounting and compliance perspective.
  • Responsible for the appropriate financial reporting for all grants and philanthropy.
  • Proactive in building appropriate system automation to increase overall efficiency of the finance function.
  • Leads the integration processes of newly acquired, partnered or merged facilities into the Organization's financial processes.
  • Responsible for the various entity budgets on an annual basis and provides variance analysis monthly. Establishes and ensures that corporate accounting policies and procedures are compliant with contemporary financial reporting and internal control standards.
  • Engages in hands-on management style in the implementation and development of finance team to drive Organizational success.
  • Participates in key strategic initiatives and assist with other ad hoc projects.
  • Supervises the tax function for compliance with governmental reporting requirements.
  • Participates, as needed, in planning and administering long-term debt financing activities, including compliance with existing debt covenants.
  • Studies organizational and economic trends for long term projections in support of expanding operations and strengthening the balance sheet.
  • Studies and develops innovation solutions within the finance function such as data visualization, data analytics and robotic process automation.
  • Strong team builder and facilitator with ability to train, inspire, motivate and coach team members to action and foster an atmosphere that encourages efficiency, effectiveness and an environment to foster professional career growth.
  • Well-disciplined with proven ability to effectively manage multiple assignments under pressure when meeting tight deadlines.
  • Makes clear and consistent decisions, acting with integrity.
  • Responsible for the corporate entity budgets.
  • Collaborates with the Senior Vice President-Finance and other members of executive leadership team as well as finance division leadership in the development of system financial strategies.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelors Degree Required
  • Masters Degree In Accounting or Taxation. Preferred

Work Experience:

  • 8 years Relevant experience. Required and
  • Supervisory experience. Required

Licenses:

  • Certified Public Accountant Upon Hire Required
