We are seeking an experienced and highly-skilled Cardiac Surgeon to serve as the System Chief of Cardiac Surgery. The ideal candidate will be a visionary leader who is clinically excellent, demonstrates a passion for improving patient outcomes, and advances the field of cardiac surgery while mentoring future leaders. This candidate will lead, provide strategic direction, and participate in the delivery of high-quality contemporary cardiac surgical care including CABG, valve surgery, aortic surgery and advanced cardiopulmonary therapies.

This candidate will join a well-established cardiac surgery program currently performing more than 600 open-heart surgeries per year. Additionally, our catchment area of 12 counties, 9 WellSpan hospitals, and over 250 employed practices will allow for significant continued growth.

You will be joining a cardiac surgery team with:

  • A dedicated open heart intensive care unit and an additional dedicated cardiac intensive care unit currently caring for all aspects of complex cardiac disease including durable left ventricular assistive devices.
  • Seasoned intensive care, intermediate care, and dedicated cardiac floor nurses all specialized in cardiovascular care.
  • A large, multi-practiced, high-volume cardiology group employed by WellSpan with advanced cardiac imaging, electrophysiology, interventional cardiology, and advanced heart failure specialists.
  • A new 200-bed advanced surgical and critical care tower including dedicated cardiac operative suites and 4 dedicated hybrid labs currently under construction.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

  • Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) Required or
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) Required

Licenses:

  • Licensed Medical Physician and Surgeon Upon Hire Required or
  • Licensed Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Upon Hire Required

Courses and Training:

  • Certification by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery with experience as a practicing cardiothoracic surgeon in the United States. Upon Hire Required and
  • Successful completion of a General Surgery residency. Upon Hire Required and
  • Must qualify and be a member of the Medical Staff of the Hospital. Upon Hire Required
