General Summary:

Provides administrative support for the organization by performing a variety of duties relating to scheduling of patients.


Duties and Responsibilities:


   1  Schedules patient procedures and appointments within established parameters.

   2  Coordinates with appropriate personnel to facilitate creation of the procedural schedule and to ensure that needed equipment, supplies, personnel, and patient information is available for procedures.

   3  Keeps patient records current.

   4  Establishes, maintains, and updates files and records on an ongoing basis.

   5  Enters and/or retrieves data from established computer files using knowledge of various computer software applications.

   6. Answers telephones, routes callers, takes messages and provides routine information to callers.

   7.  Completes tasks timely and accurately related to electronic health record messaging.

   8.  Reviews pre-admissions and admissions to ascertain and verify insurance coverage and eligibility.

   9  Maintains professional growth and development.

  10  Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.

The following are nonessential job accountabilities for ADA purposes:

  11  Orders office supplies as necessary.

  12  Performs other related duties as identified



  Note:  Other combinations of formal education, training and experience may be considered.

  Minimum Education:  High School or G.E.D.                                            

  Minimum Experience:  3 - 6 months

  Required Cert/Registration:  BLS Certification

  Pref Field Of Expertise:  Surgical scheduling experience

  Req Course(s)/Training:  Medical terminology

  Physical Demands:  Mostly sedentary work

                               Occasionally lifts supplies/equipment

  Working Conditions:  May be exposed to/occasionally exposed to patient elements

                                   Subject to many interruptions

                                   Occasional pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries

  Skills:  Basic computer and typing skills; good communications and interpersonal skills

              Occasional prolonged standing/walking
