Supervisor-Engineering- Facilities Maintenance York Hospital

Location: WellSpan Health, York, PA
Schedule: Full Time

General Summary

Coordinates and supervises work assignments and activities of general maintenance and renovation construction sections. Schedules maintenance, construction and repair activities of buildings, grounds and utilities. Self-performs project evaluations and makes critical decisions for the organization. Responsible for the direct supervision of subordinates, vendors and contractors. Candidate will possess a wide range of knowledge and experience with all building systems. Healthcare experience preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Prepares work schedules, assigns personnel, and evaluates work performance.
  • Performs annual reviews for staff and administers corrective and disciplinary actions and makes recommendations for hiring and promotions, as needed.
  • Performs scheduled rounding with direct reports.
  • Coordinates, leads work, checks, inspects and monitors activities in assigned work.
  • Monitors and coordinates resources efforts utilizing a complete understanding for the CMMS system
  • Expedites work orders and regularly monitors and logs times and materials required for completion of work.
  • Reviews work in progress. Checks and inspects as necessary for conformance to job specifications.
  • Examines tools and equipment used by workers and ensures that safety measures are observed.
  • Investigates delays, solves problems, and ensures timely completion of the work.
  • Ensures adequate levels of supplies, materials, and equipment and advises when reordering is necessary.
  • Takes calls for maintenance requests directly from occupants. Interacts with the caller in a way that provides outstanding customer service.
  • In addition to direct trade responsibilities may handle ancillary duties such as infectious waste collection, boiler room supervision, off-site coordination, vehicle maintenance, snow removal, deliveries, elevators, etc.
  • Works with outside contractors and salespeople to assure supplies, equipment and contracts are purchased as cost-effectively as possible. Orders or causes to be ordered, specialized parts and equipment.
  • Assist Department Managers with the budgeting process.
  • Provides security and safety to patients, visitors and staff.
  • Performs project management from the development of the proposal to full completion of the project.
  • Leads regulatory compliance efforts as it pertains to the facility.

  • Oversees and supports training programs for staff and promotes employee development.
  • Expected to work though "pressure" situations on a constant basis.
  • Demonstrates guest relation principles.
  • Attends meeting as required.
  • Supports organizational functions and activities as needed.
  • The working hours may vary and are specific to the given need. Evenings, nights, weekends and holidays are possible.
  • The Supervisor will need to be able to field phone calls and participate in the on-call schedule.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED Required
  • Certificate Program Post High School Vocational/Specialized Training. Preferred

Work Experience:

  • 5 years Relevant experience. Required and
  • Supervisory experience. Required

Driver's License Statement:

Must possess a valid driver's license in the current state of residence. Driving record must meet requirements established by WellSpan Risk Management.

Courses and Training:

  • Trade school apprenticeship program (carpentry, plumbing, electrical, etc.) Upon Hire Preferred
