Rehabilitation Medicine Lead-Therapist- Garden Spot Village Center-Day/Evening

Location: Ephrata Community Hospital, New Holland, PA
Schedule: Full Time

Full time (80 hours biweekly)

Monday - Friday Day/Evening

Weekend and holiday rotation

General Summary

Assists in managing the daily clinical operations and program development, and provides rehabilitative services within the assigned facility of the rehab department.

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Ensures the delivery of quality Rehabilitation services in the area of continuum of care by identifying patient needs and recommending quality therapy programs.
  • Supervises and prioritizes workload and staffing to ensure prompt delivery of care while maintaining high productivity.
  • Analyzes and recommends positive changes for improvement in program content, including quality, customer service and efficacy of clinical services.
  • Assists in the formulation of performance improvement initiatives and quality assurance criteria.
  • Consults with interdisciplinary team members on a regular basis to coordinate patient care.
  • Ensures accountability to approved procedures for rehab facility operation and compliance to regulatory oversight.
  • Carries out appropriate treatment programs and completes all necessary daily documentation.
  • Demonstrates understanding and ability to promote team building which leads to employee engagement.

Common Expectations:

  • Evaluates patient using diagnostic and prognostic muscle, nerve, joint and functional ability tests.
  • Plans individualized rehabilitation program for each patient including exercises, therapeutic modalities, and procedures.
  • Directs and supervises patient in active, active assisted, passive exercises, muscle re-education, and functional training using appropriate equipment as needed.
  • Provides instructions in therapeutic procedures to be continued by the patient.
  • Coordinates rehabilitation activities in collaboration with the other members of the interdisciplinary team to facilitate achievement of goals established.
  • Develops effective schedule for staff therapists to ensure appropriate patient access, manage coverage issues, minimize queues, and maintain patient flow through the department.
  • Assists with interview process and selecting staff, trains/orients personnel, evaluates performance, prepares work schedules and makes recommendations for personnel actions.
  • Assists in developing budgets and actively manages monthly variances.
  • Demonstrates patient first thinking and incorporating in rehab system.
  • Prepares documentation as required by the profession and the department, such as individualized treatment plans, progress reports, and other such reports.
  • Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessment, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
  • Works cooperatively with others in reaching goals while assuming personal responsibilities for outcomes; challenges "we-they" thinking; Supports a free flow of information in all directions; Includes others where appropriate and promotes a team approach.
  • Assists and or completes performance evaluations for team members.
  • Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

  • Masters Degree Required

Work Experience:

  • 5 years Relevant experience. Required and
  • Supervisory experience. Required

Licenses:

  • Licensed Physical Therapist Upon Hire Required or
  • Licensed Occupational Therapist Upon Hire Required or
  • Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist Upon Hire Required and
  • Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required

Courses and Training:

  • Graduate of an accredited program in physical therapy, occupations therapy or speech-language pathology. Upon Hire
