RN  Works as a nursing resource for nursing staff throughout WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital with a focus in Surgical Services. The registered nurse will also optimize patient care quality via staff education.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The following are essential job accountabilities:
1 Assists staff to develop critical judgment in order to use the nursing process to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
2 Assists staff to problem solve complex clinical issues.
3 Participates in the Hospital Quality Improvement program – provides documentation of outcomes and facilitates improvement teams.
4 Serves as a resource to the Staff Development Coordinator and nursing services.
5 Conducts various education programs, skills laboratories, etc. Ensures that staff are kept informed of changes to Hospital/department procedures and nursing care standards and are trained in the use of new equipment, supplies, etc.
6 Functions collaboratively with nursing directors/unit managers and staff development coordinator in assessing staff learning needs, planning and delivering unit-based, Hospital-wide, and outside educational programs.
7 Coordinates ACLS, Dysrhythmia classes, Nurse Aide course, and other special projects as requested.
8 Works collaboratively with other educators.
9 Provides nursing in-services based on needs assessment, Quality Improvement concerns, staff or management requests, or typical patient population consideration.
10 Assists the Staff Development Coordinator in planning nursing educational sessions for all employees, including new employees and nursing students.
11 Identifies and makes recommendations to Unit Managers regarding the best method for meeting needs of staff, including in service, education, certification programs, outside workshops/seminars, professional reading, etc.
12 Evaluates effectiveness of educational programs conducted and revises materials as necessary.
13 Assists in the administration of the Nursing Continuing Education (CNE) providership with the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing. This includes presentations and providing documentation for participants of attendance.

Required Skills

Ideal candidate will have experience with Pathways to Excellence or Magnet designation status (active involvement in writing)

Master's degree in Education highly preferred

Experience working in surgical services 

Five years clinical experience as an RN

Current RN licensure in the state of Pennsylvania
