Public Relations Specialist Senior

Location: WellSpan Health, York, PA
Schedule: Full Time

General Summary

Supports the development and execution of strategic public relations initiatives that reinforce our brand and system narrative, engage a wide variety of external audiences and support WellSpan's priorities. Crafts clear, compelling communications across multiple channels and has an ability to support high-impact projects with both strategic understanding and strong tactical execution. Contributes to an integrated, collaborative, data-driven Public Relations team that is known for high reliability and excellence in execution. Must be exceptional interviewers and writers, enjoy executing events, and being part of a highly collaborative, innovative, and data-driven Marketing and Communications function.

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Plans, writes, edits and produces content for external audiences for various communications mediums, media releases, blogs, Op-Eds, white papers, social media, etc.
  • Partners with the Program Leads of Media Relations, Social Media, Community Engagement and Thought Leadership to develop and execute plans.
  • Aids in the creative execution of PR activities to enhance brand reputation and engagement.
  • Provides event support, media escorts and other onsite support as needed.
  • Coordinates the execution plan for special projects, special events and meetings to meet system goals and objectives.
  • Supports crisis communication efforts.
  • Participates in assessing the quality and effectiveness of PR efforts and contributes ideas for future activities.
  • Continuously scans the internal and external environment/industry trends, understands the organization's major strategic and operating priorities and helps to identify and recommend relevant public relations opportunities.
  • Responsible for arranging photography and videography of system functions and other related activities.
  • Utilizes strong project management skills to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.

  • Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
  • Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.
  • Assists in proofreading, writing and idea development for internal communications projects.

Travel Requirements:

  • Estimated Amount: 15% - Periodic travel required primarily for meetings, trainings, and periodic visits to clients, project sites, or system locations.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelors Degree In Communications, Journalism or related field. Required

Work Experience:

  • 5 years Experience in communications or related field. Required
  • Communications experience in a large, complex healthcare organization. Preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent written/oral communications, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Strong computer skills and willingness to embrace new technology and artificial intelligence.
  • Strong journalistic writing, copyediting and project management skills.
  • Familiarity with internal communications platforms and tools (e.g., Yammer, intranet systems).
  • Strong project management and organization abilities.
