Philanthropy Prospect Research Specialist

Location: WellSpan Health, Gettysburg, PA
Schedule: Full Time

General Summary

Plays a crucial role in identifying and analyzing potential donors to support the organization's fundraising efforts. This position involves conducting in-depth research on individuals, corporations, and foundations to uncover their giving capacity, philanthropic interests, and connections to the organization. This position compiles detailed profiles, provides strategic insights, and collaborates with the development team to enhance donor engagement and maximize fundraising opportunities.

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Leverages experience in health care philanthropy and Blackbaud Raiser's Edge to enhance donor research and engagement strategies.
  • Conducts research to identify potential donors using various databases and tools, including online resources, subscription services, and internal records.
  • Analyzes data to assess donor capacity, interests, and connections to the organization, utilizing statistical methods and data visualization techniques.
  • Compiles detailed profiles and reports on prospective donors, ensuring information is comprehensive, accurate, and presented in a clear format.
  • Collaborates with the development team to strategize donor cultivation and solicitation, providing insights and recommendations based on research findings.
  • Stays informed about trends in philanthropy and donor behavior, attending relevant conferences, webinars, and reading industry publications.
  • Maintains and updates donor databases with accurate information, ensuring data integrity and compliance with privacy regulations.
  • Ensures accuracy and attention to detail in all research and data, meticulously verifying information and cross-referencing sources to maintain high standards of quality.
  • Communicates research findings clearly and provide regular updates, using concise and effective communication methods to share insights and recommendations with stakeholders.
  • Meets regularly with gift officers to tweak and refine portfolios as prospects are distributed, ensuring accountability and proactive engagement with new prospects that need to be qualified.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelors Degree Required

Work Experience:

  • 3 years Philanthropy Prospect Researcher with experience in health care fundraising, research, database management. Required and
  • Blackbaud Raisers Edge experience. Required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal, relationship building and communication (written and verbal) skills.
  • Ability to organize work and to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to perform basic database functions, including donor information entry and reports.
  • Computer applications skills (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks effectively.
