Pharmacy Services Manager - Full-Time - Day

This role serves as the clinical pharmacy liaison for the west and north regions, partnering closely with managers, supervisors, assistant managers, and pharmacists on clinically related topics, opportunities for improvement, and initiatives. The position plays a key role in advancing evidence-based practice, optimizing medication use, and supporting high-quality, safe, and cost-effective patient care across the system.

A major focus of the role will be formulary management and the use of data analytics to guide formulary decisions and evaluate medication utilization trends. The individual will collaborate with regional and system leaders to identify opportunities for standardization, financial stewardship, and improved clinical outcomes.

As a vital member of the Institutional Clinical Pharmacy Leadership Team, this position will contribute to systemwide clinical initiatives, policy development, and strategic planning, ensuring alignment and excellence in clinical pharmacy services throughout WellSpan Health.

Essential Functions:

  • Identifies the need for clinical services across the system based on patient care requirements, while recognizing resource, training, and educational gaps impacting service delivery.
  • Prepares, implements, and reviews clinical standard work in support of P&T-approved protocols for medication therapy management.
  • Supports pharmacist educational needs across the system by identifying continuing education opportunities, in-services, and conference participation.
  • Reviews and recommends drug information resources in support of clinical pharmacy services.
  • Creates and supports training opportunities for pharmacists to gain experience in clinical practice areas not readily available at their current facility, including protocol and consult services.
  • Identifies and directs appropriate clinical pharmacist support for systemwide committees and initiatives.
  • Provides regional leadership in evaluating and implementing local and national GPO initiatives.
  • Develops, measures, and analyzes annual metrics of clinical pharmacy practice and interventions, focusing on outcomes improvement, adverse event avoidance, and cost savings.
  • Provides regional leadership in the development and enforcement of a systemwide formulary designed to optimize therapeutic options for all patients while eliminating duplicative or unnecessary medications.
  • Identifies and supports EMR enhancements to improve clinical intervention opportunities, documentation, and potential replacement of third-party vendor products.
  • Shares responsibility with ICPLT colleagues for systemwide committees, including but not limited to the Formulary Committee, Order Set Committee, and Institutional Review Board (IRB).

  • Demonstrates a commitment to patient, visitor, and staff safety by complying with regulations; understanding the impact of medical errors and strategies for error reduction; reporting actual and potential errors and hazards; identifying opportunities to standardize processes and "error proof" systems; and participating in safety education and root cause analyses as required.
  • Adheres to established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessment standards, and safety, environmental, and infection control protocols.
  • Maintains professional growth through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to stay current with trends in clinical pharmacy practice.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

  • Doctorate Doctor of Pharmacy degree. Required

Work Experience:

  • 5 years As a clinical pharmacist in a hospital setting. Required
  • Experience as a clinical coordinator or clinical manager. Preferred

Licenses:

  • Licensed Registered Pharmacist Upon Hire Required
