Pharmacy Applications Support Specialist - Pharmacy Administration - Full-Time - Day

General Summary

Provides analytical support of the System pharmacy applications to support the business strategies, strategic vision and goals of the System. Maintains, tests and develops Pharmacy databases and performs related duties.

Essential Functions:

  • Develops and revises the Electronic Health Record (EHR), dispensing cabinet, carousel databases as necessary when new drugs and/or processes are introduced into the Pharmacy. Appropriately documents changes. Participates in the implementation of new technology.
  • Analyzes hardware and/or software failures and takes corrective action.
  • Investigates new functionality with existing software and implements processes to utilize the functionality.
  • Participates in the planning process for new technology and tests the impact of changes to the System pharmacy technology.
  • Uses reports from pharmacy technology to monitor and improve departmental workflow and productivity.
  • Trains pharmacy and nursing employees in proper use of pharmacy technology
  • Controls and monitors access of users to the dispensing cabinet. Adjusts privileges as responsibilities change as notified by Human Resources.
  • Updates drug cost information in EHR which influences the patient charges. Researches pharmacy billing errors in the EHR and provides information to billing personnel.
  • Implements and maintains databases of users and area templates for floorstock ordering system.
  • Monitors CII safe activity/performs monthly inventory and follows up on dispensing cabinet narcotic activities.

  • Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessment, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
  • Participates in educational programs and inservice meetings.
  • Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED Required

Work Experience:

  • 2 years Including at least 1 year working with healthcare applications or technologies. Required

Licenses:

  • Certified Pharmacy Technician Upon Hire Required
