Job Description:

Under general supervision, provides pharmaceuticals and drug information as needed for adequate patient care according to professional standards and practices.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Compounds pharmaceutical preparations and/or labels and packages medications and pharmaceuticals. Assists with and/or supervises IV preparation and/or delivery.
  2. Advises patients and medical/nursing staff on use of various medications including dosage, side effects, composition, drug-to-drug interactions, drug-to-allergy interactions and drug-to-food interactions.
  3. Ensures proper controls and records of narcotics and other controlled substances as required by state and federal law.
  4. Monitors drug therapy to identify, prevent or resolve actual or potential drug therapy problems. Addresses problems with physicians and/or nurses when indicated.
  5. Provides clinical pharmacy services as needed.
  6. Administers immunizations, reviews patient profiles for immunization qualification and makes that recommendation to the patient.
 

Qualifications

  • Minimum Experience:
    • 6 - 12 months
  • Minimum Education:
    • Pharmacy Bachelor's Degree
  • Required Certification:
    • Pharmacist (RPh) License and registration
    • Authorization to Administer Injectables License
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Required Courses:
    • Completion of degree program from accredited school of pharmacy
  • Physical Demands:
    • Frequent prolonged standing/walking
    • Lifts supplies/equipment
