Position Summary:

PER DIEM 

 

General Summary:

 


Under the general supervision of the Administrative Director, provides patient care and professional nursing services in
pre-, intra- and postoperative areas, normally in an outpatient setting. Assists physicians during operative procedures
and in providing care to patients. Instructs patients and their families in appropriate care.

 


Duties and Responsibilities:

 


1 Provides general nursing care and personal care assistance to patients.
3 Writes initial nursing histories, assesses patients' conditions and develops individual care plans for patients.
4 Prepares the operating room for cases by setting up table, instruments and supplies according to type of case.
5 Cleans and prepares rooms between procedures and after terminal cleaning. Monitors and restocks supplies.
6 Prepares patients preoperatively for surgical procedures.
7 Assists the surgical team during operative procedures.
8 Maintains aseptic techniques; actively monitors situations which could lead to breaches in aseptic technique.
9 Assists in maintaining correct count of instruments, sutures and sponges.
10 Assists in patient care related activities such as starting IV solutions and inserting tubes.
11 Administers postoperative care by monitoring status and observing for postoperative complications.
12 Provides health care instruction/education to patient and family members.
13 Performs a variety of nursing administrative duties.
14 Prepares and maintains records of patient charges.


Required Skills

Minimum Education

Associate's Degree

 


Minimum Experience

1 - 2 years

 


Min Field Of Expertise Medical/Surgical nursing

Req Cert/Registration Registration and current RN license in PA; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

certification
