Patient Scheduling Coordinator - Ephrata - Days

Location: York Hospital, Ephrata, PA
Schedule: Part Time

Part time (20 hours weekly)
Flexible dayshift hours

General Summary

Coordinates the oncology treatment scheduling process and manages the day-to-day activities of the overall treatment schedules. Facilitates the efficient and effective use of resources surrounding oncology treatment by accurate and timely scheduling of treatment modalities according to policies, procedures, and guidelines.

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Supportive of meetings with a multidisciplinary team to increase efficiency of the oncology scheduling practices.
  • Coordinates and manages the day-to-day activities of the oncology overall treatment schedules, including coordinating outpatient procedures.
  • Coordinates and schedules oncology treatments and verifies authorization prior to scheduling.
  • Facilitates creation of oncology schedules to maximize efficiency by scheduling physicians and treatments appropriately.
  • Performs necessary conflict checks, consistently intercepts potential scheduling conflicts, and independently works to resolve them, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team as needed.
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of oncology treatment documentation, supply nomenclature, and inventory management.
  • Exhibits excellent customer service while being able to multitask under pressure.
  • Provides consistent high quality of service to patients, staff, physicians, physician offices and visitors.
  • Makes, reschedules, and cancels appointments, understanding the unique scheduling needs in the department so that patient access is optimized.
  • Provides feedback on workload, scheduling issues, and refinements to the management team on an ongoing basis.
  • Acts as a liaison and resource for internal and external departments and staff for treatment scheduling.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED Required

Work Experience:

  • 1 year Of complex scheduling. Preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Medical terminology.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Effective written and oral skills in English.
  • Computer literacy and ability to utilize applications including but not limited to EPIC, Excel, Lawson, and Microsoft Office.
  • Competency in computer data entry/retrieval systems.
  • Ability to maintain accuracy on a consistent basis
