Patient Accounts Customer Service Representative Lead - Collections - Day

Location: WellSpan Health, York, PA
Schedule: Full Time

General Summary

Assists in oversight of the daily operations and work activities of the Customer Service team. Acts in a supervisory role in the absence of the assigned supervisor.

Shift

Full Time, Mon-Thursday 8 am -4:30 pm, Friday 7:30- 4pm

2 late shifts each week working 9 am -5:30 pm

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Oversees the work of other personnel by training, allocating and monitoring work. Performs work of a similar nature.
  • Assists with annual performance evaluations and with the interview process. May perform audits on other staff members' work.
  • Reviews, reconciles and/or corrects a variety of reports.
  • May interact with collection agencies and a variety of governmental agencies.
  • May assist staff with follow up and/or resolution of accounts.
  • Acts as a resource for business office staff, Access ED Staff and PAS IT staff.
  • Trains new hires as well as conducting training for existing employees as needed.

Common Expectations:

  • Establishes and maintains communication with ancillary departments/entities to facilitate problem solving and continuous process improvement.
  • Assists in developing, establishing and maintaining policies, procedures and standards.
  • Maintains appropriate records, reports, and files as required.
  • Maintains departmental records and reports and collects statistical data for administrative and regulatory purposes.
  • Participates in educational programs and inservice meetings.
  • Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED Required

Work Experience:

  • 3 years Relevant experience. Required

Licenses:

  • Certified Patient Accounts Technician within 1 year Required or
  • Certified Healthcare Access Associate within 1 year Required or
  • Certified Healthcare Access Manager within 1 year Required or
  • Certified Revenue Cycle Executive within 1 year Required or
  • Certified Revenue Cycle Professional within 1 year Required or
  • Certified Revenue Integrity Professional within 1 year Required or
  • Certified Revenue Cycle Specialist within 1 year Required or
  • Certified Compliance Technician - AAHAM within 1 year Required or
  • Certified Healthcare Financial Professional within 1 year Required or
  • Certified Revenue Cycle Representative within 1 year Required

Courses and Training:

  • Cross-trained in the department or training as a PAS II. Upon Hire Required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent customer service, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Insurance knowledge.
  • Computer skills.
