Nurse Manager - Surgical Services

Position Function: Responsible for the development, operation, and management of the patient unit, including nursing and interdisciplinary care activities, coordination of patient care services and maintaining acceptable interdisciplinary standards of quality care on a twenty-four hour basis.

Qualifications and Standards

Education: A. Formal Education and Training - Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing. A Baccalaureate degree in nursing or equivalent* required or must achieve by January 1, 2019. Masters degree in specialty or business preferred.

B. Informal or Continuing Education-Informal or continuing education in clinical field, management and/or business.

*Equivalent - A letter from the educational institution stating that the empoloyee has completed the undergraduate portion of their studies. The employee must stay continuously enrolled in graduate studies until obtaining their MSN.

Experience: Experience applying customer service behaviors and communication skills required. Minimum of 3 years recent hospital clinical experience in the specialty. Previous management experience required.

Certifications/Licensure: Must possess a current license to practice professional nursing in the state of Pennsylvania. Certification in specialty area preferred. CPR certification required.
