Nuclear Medicine Technologist II 
Part Time 
Day Shift 
Varied Shift Schedule; On Call / Holiday Rotation

Job Description:

Under the general supervision of the Nuclear Medicine Team Leader, performs a variety of routine and advanced clinical diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures at an advanced skill and knowledge level.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Performs diagnostic and therapeutic Nuclear Medicine procedures. Prepares radiopharmaceuticals for administration to patients. Determines the appropriate dosage required based on the study to be performed.
  2. Obtains patient history, reviews patient condition, and administers accurate radiopharmaceutical dosage following established departmental procedures. Monitors patients during the procedure and reports any unusual occurrences to appropriate personnel.
  3. Checks equipment, supplies, and accessories on a regular basis.
  4. Evaluates images for technical quality.
  5. Schedules cases to coordinate with other patient examinations.
  6. Positions and transfers patients safely and comfortably and explains basic procedures.
  7. Immobilizes patients as necessary and practices radiation safety procedures.
  8. Prepares and maintains written documentation as required by the profession and the department.
  9. In addition to the above, a NM Tech II accountabilities could include:
  10. Introduces and demonstrates new techniques, equipment, and research findings to staff.
  11. Preceptor skills
  12. Advanced knowledge with patient scheduling
  13. Knowledge of advanced NM diagnostic protocols
  14. Advanced knowledge in basic NM therapies
  15. Additional departmental responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree
  • CNMT or RT(N) certification required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • 3 - 5 years experience
  • Other combinations of formal education, training and experience may be considered.
