Job Description:

Under general supervision, supervises the planning and development of Access Education, utilizing best practices and appropriate staffing and management of an education and quality team. The education manager is responsible for communicating educational policies and procedures and for overall coordination of activities and education for insurances, compliance, and registration for the health system. Using proven methodologies, communication and problem-solving skills, and guides to assists the education team and Patient Access operations on issues related to the design, development and deployment of mission-critical information systems education. Experience and understanding of the revenue cycle are preferred. Focus of this position will be Access/Revenue/Ambulatory operational education oversight. Strong managerial, change leadership, and communication skills are a must.


Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Accountabilities:

  1. Assesses organizational, departmental and program needs to ensure that curriculum delivery and staffing for education training meets project and organizational requirements and system goals
  2. Assesses and manages scope and risks related to development and execution of educational programs
  3. Develops, implements, evaluates and continuously improves the education and training processes to ensure that all registration staff receives consistent, accurate training on insurance and registration policies and procedures.
  4. Plans, organizes and develops training modules, continuing education modules and competencies. Coordinates their delivery and monitors attendance/compliance.
  5. Compiles registration quality assurance statistics, establishing measurable goals and accuracy rates for registration staff at both medical group offices and hospital facilitates, providing communication of these statistics to senior leadership.
  6. Acts as liaison between Billing, Project One Training, and Access staff, communicating registration and insurance changes and implementing improvements to facilitate an efficient patient accounts revenue cycle.
  7. Analyzes customer complaints and assists department personnel in follow up to assure appropriate resolution.
  8. Facilitates interactions concerning insurance requirements and guidelines between individuals, departments, etc., to promote quality service.
  9. Monitors insurance participation changes as communicated by Payor Contracting, identifying all necessary insurance documentation updates to be provided by the Access Education team.
  10. Ensures all work and educational materials meet appropriate department/service project standards. Establishes standard templates for lesson plans, manuals, tip sheets, and other materials used by educators.



  • Minimum Experience:
    • 3 - 5 years insurance background, registration experience and previous training/educator

    • Associate's Degree
  • Required Certification:
    • Cert Certified Healthcare Access Manager (CHAM) or the ability obtain this certification from
    • NAHAM within one year of employment.
