General Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Manager, Strategy Management manages and continuously improves strategy development, deployment and execution across the System.  Through the roles of facilitator, integrator and accelerator, drives organizational accomplishment of its strategic plan.  Provides the organization’s leaders with market intelligence, information, analysis and strategic perspectives and manages processes for developing aligned system, service line, entity and market plans. 


Duties and Responsibilities:

Serves in the following roles for system leaders: facilitator, integrator and accelerator for strategy development and execution.

Displays a deep understanding and stewardship of the WellSpan Strategic Plan.

Shares responsibility for management and continuous improvement of the year-round WellSpan Annual Plan Process.

Manages the research, data analysis and supports the development of strategy with external partners.

Builds relationships and communication channels with consultants and partners and works to clarify and define processes.

Establishes information and frameworks to align current initiatives including a shared file system, historical context and timeframe for partnership activity.

Integrates and coordinates service line and market plans with the WellSpan Annual Planning Process to drive alignment prioritization and strategic budget decisions.

 Works with senior management to develop various plans.  Manages the research, data analysis and development of strategy. Provides guidance to management teams and senior executives to drive organizational growth and strategic impact.

Shares responsibility for monitoring the execution of plans.  Keeps management focused on and apprised of goal progress and barriers.  Creates progress reports on the accomplishment of goals and manages metrics of execution.  Facilitates communication of the results to the Executive Summit, Planning Committee and WellSpan Board.

Collaborates with a virtual team of planning liaisons at each current and future WellSpan entity to create respective annual plans that align to the System annual plan.  Supports local performance management of the accomplishment of the plans and the communication of the progress to Boards.

Utilizes business and market acumen to partner with Finance, Facilities, Marketing, Population Health, Business Development and WellSpan Innovations colleagues to support leadership in prioritizing key growth opportunities across and within regions. 

Serves as an internal planning consultant to leaders in the preparation of plans, demonstrating fluency in interpreting core/secondary market analytics, financial data as well as local and national trends.

Encourages re-thinking of traditional planning models and analytics.  Continuously looks for ways to improve the use of data, including striving for real-time/dynamic data, integrating data sets and improving data visualization.

Works as one” with the planning team in the fulfillment of its organizational responsibilities, that is, to support the organization’s leaders with strategic market intelligence, information, analysis and strategic perspectives and then drives leaders toward decision-making.

In concert with the planning team, conducts WellSpan environmental assessments to identify changes in the external environment (e.g., social, political, economic, technological, demographic) and potential opportunities and threats. 

Conducts special projects in support of WellSpan Planning efforts.  Performs research, data analysis and interviews as required.  Prepares findings and presents to appropriate management groups.

  Minimum Education:              Bachelor’s Degree


  Preferred Education:              Master’s Degree


  Minimum Experience:            3 - 5 years of relevant healthcare experience


  Skills:                                 Excellent analytical and written skills. Strong presentation, organization, co-creative/decision leadership skills. Strong innovation and facilitation skills. Computer skills in PowerPoint, word, excel, report generation and data analytics.
