General Summary:

Under the direct supervision performs a variety of general support duties in specimen procurement, clerical office, central processing, and/or other assigned areas at an entry skills level. Functions in on-
and/or off-site service areas. 


Duties and Responsibilities:

1 Answers telephones, routes callers, takes messages and provides routine information to callers.
2 May receive specimens into the laboratory, process specimens, deliver specimens to on- and off-site locations, store
specimens for future analysis and dispose of specimens.
3 May receive and transport supplies, equipment, reports and specimens between the laboratory and other health care
4 May collect specimens as directed using appropriate or specified equipment for collecting and handling specimens.
5 Enters or retrieves data from established computer files.
6 Provides complete and accurate instructions to patients and other customers of the laboratory.

Supports the Laboratory by preforming specimen handling.  Schedule will include shift and weekend rotation.


Required Skills

High School Diploma or GED required

Knowledge of Medical Terminology preferred. 

Must have strong customer service skills.
