Human Resources Business Partner Senior (Medical Group & Service Lines)

Location: WellSpan Health, York, PA
Schedule: Full Time

General Summary

Responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management in designated business units. Formulates partnerships across the Human Resources function to deliver value-added service to management and employees that reflects the business objectives of the organization. Maintains an advanced level of business literacy about the financial position and strategic plan(s) for their areas and its alignment to the greater WellSpan.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participates in regular meetings with assigned leaders to discuss deliverables.
  • Creates effective partnerships with leaders by providing credible and timely Human Resources guidance which positively impact the achievement of overall HR, financial, and operational goals.
  • Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with the Human Resources Center of Excellences (COEs) to develop and implement solutions, programs and policies.
  • Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations.
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with the legal counsel as needed/required.
  • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to leaders (e.g., work complaints, disciplinary actions, coaching).
  • Proactively engages with leaders and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • Works with leaders to review employee engagement data and provides support in creating action plans and moving engagement initiatives forward in conjunction with their HR leader.
  • Partners with leaders and OL&D in administering the employee opinion survey and developing the action plans.
  • Provides Human Resources policy guidance and bargaining agreement interpretation (where applicable).
  • Supports completion of various HR documentation as necessary.
  • Eliminates barriers to management success by providing timely solutions or compromises to HR issues that serve the needs of the manager while maintaining the strategic interests of the organization.
  • Provides guidance and input to leaders on business unit restructures, workforce planning and succession planning.
  • Identifies training needs for business units and individual executive coaching needs. Works to implement training and coaching as needed.
  • Provides management with information or training related to various human resources topics such as performance evaluations, counseling techniques, and proper incident documentation.
  • Analyzes situations and data from sources such as exit interviews, manager and employee interactions, or proactively provide strategic recommendations for addressing situations before they become problems, or by identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Coordinates Unemployment Compensation process including accurate and timely completion of UC information requests. Working with TPA and or legal counsel to prepare for UC matters and hearings.
  • Provides support for preparation of HR information as it relates to regulatory surveys, entity orientation, employee file review requests and other similar requests.
  • Provides coverage for other HRBPs and/or the HR Director as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelors Degree In human resources, business, or related field. Required
  • Masters Degree Preferred

Work Experience:

  • 5 years Experience resolving complex employee relations issues and functioning in an HR consulting type of role. Required

Courses and Training:

  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR). Upon Hire Preferred or
  • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP). Upon Hire Preferred or
  • SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP). Upon Hire Preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, to include strong project management skills.
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.
  • Ability to acquire a thorough understanding of the organization's hierarchy, jobs, qualifications, compensation practices, and the administrative practices related to those factors.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines and function with a high level of autonomy.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, to include excellent critical thinking skills, especially when handling sensitive and/or complex employee relations issues.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Strong facilitation/presentation skills.
  • Advanced working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee and union relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state respective employment laws.
