GI Technician I 
Full Time 
Day/Evening Shift

Job Description:

Under direct supervision, performs duties that include, but are not limited to, setup, pre-procedure inspection/testing and preparation of all equipment used during a host of GI procedures (e.g., colonoscopy, EGD, ERCP, EUS, etc.). Directly assists the Physician and/or nursing staff with collection and labeling of tissue biopsy samples, electro-cautery and trouble-shooting malfunctioning equipment. Cleans, restocks and prepares the procedure room for the next patient. Prepares the room for end of day cleaning. Assists with the reprocessing of all endoscopic equipment. Assists the nursing staff with the admission/recovery patients, within the scope of practice, and transports patients as needed. Maintains and demonstrates clinical competency.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Ensures that required endoscopic equipment and supplies are set up, inspected and tested prior to procedure.
  2. Assists in the transportation of patients.
  3. Assists the Physician and/or nursing staff with collection and labeling of tissue biopsy samples, electro-cautery and trouble-shooting malfunctioning equipment.
  4. Cleans, restocks and prepares the procedure room for the next patient, including anesthesia supplies. Prepares the room for end of day cleaning.
  5. Assists with the reprocessing of all endoscopic equipment.
  6. Completes documentation on endoscopic flow records.

Qualifications:

  • High School or G.E.D.
  • CPR certification
  • Certified Nursing Assistant
  • 6-12 months OJT in the use of GI equipment
  • Other combinations of formal education, training and experience may be considered.
  • 6 - 12 months experience
