Exercise Physiologist - Cardiac Stress Testing - Days

Monday through Friday 5:30a-5:00p with a weekend and holiday rotation
Job Description:
Under general supervision, develops, implements and coordinates clinical exercise programs. Assists in the development and oversight of exercise programs in cardiac, pulmonary and metabolic patients. Provides assessment, treatment, and education to cardiac patients and their families during rehabilitation. Writes exercise prescriptions to progress patients through rehabilitation.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Evaluates patients’ functional abilities and limitations to determine appropriate intervention.
- Implements individualized exercise plans that consider patient’s physical and age-specific needs and abilities. Ensures that treatment plans are supported by standard practices and/or current literature.
- Re-evaluates treatment plan, as needed, to ensure patient safety and maximal patient benefit.
- Educates patients, family members, and other care providers to promote patient participation and attainment of exercise program goals.
- Demonstrates normal and abnormal cardiopulmonary responses to exercise and is able to identify other physiological adverse reactions to exercise training.
- Possesses competency in the use of equipment for treatment and deriving exercise and lifestyle improvement strategies.
- Demonstrates competency in exercise protocol selection and risk stratification classification in patient assessment and rehabilitation.
- Possesses the ability to perform technical skills, which may include any of the following: venipuncture, blood pressure monitoring at rest and exercise, skinfold assessments, circumference measures, advanced EKG interpretation and monitoring, pulse oximetry and metabolic measures.
- Demonstrates advanced knowledge of exercise prescription, exercise counseling and exercise education and setting of exercise goals that will best serve the needs of the patient.
Qualifications:
- Minimum Experience:
- 1 - 2 years direct patient care experience in a clinical setting
- Minimum Education:
- Master’s Degree in Clinical Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science or Kinesiology
- Required Certification:
- Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist (RCEP) from ASCM; BLS certification
- Preferred Certification:
- ACLS certification
- Physical Demands:
- Frequent standing/walking
- Lifts supplies/equipment/patients
