Employee Health Coordinator-RN

Location: WellSpan Health, York, PA
Schedule: PRN/Per Diem

General Summary

Oversees the new employee health assessment program to ensure compliance. Recommends new policies and procedures and coordinates administration of annual employee health programs. Coordinates the maintenance of employee health records and participates in regulatory reviews as needed. Tracks trends and issues regarding work-related injuries.

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Ensures that pre-placement health assessment program is completed with 30 days of starting date. Reviews new employee's completed health assessment forms for potential problems.
  • Coordinates the maintenance of employee health records. Participates in regulatory reviews such as DOH and Joint Commission visits.
  • Coordinates the administration of annual health programs (Mantoux, flu vaccine, etc.) as required. Administers the Hepatitis B Vaccine Program. Participates in pandemic preparation and event coordination.
  • Recommends new policy and procedures to the Infection Control Committee with regard to the Employee Health Program. Assists in the revision and communication of Employee Health policies.
  • Reviews incident reports of employee related accidents, periodically and make recommendations for prevention of further occurrences. Coordinates alternative duty.
  • Assists in the investigation of worker's compensation claims and make recommendations as appropriate.
  • Organizes and supports work safety initiatives and ergonomic safety innovations.
  • Assists employees and managers in Family and Medical Leave applications and related questions.
  • Conducts General Orientation Education on Employee Health for all new employees, as applicable.
  • Participates in the after hours on-call schedule for exposures and fitness for duty evaluations. Provides follow-up for employee blood/body fluid exposures
  • Assists with project work which may require hours outside of regular shift.

  • Maintains a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for patients/families in accordance with hospital standards.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span of the assigned patient population. Assesses and interprets patient age specific data and provides appropriate, age specific treatment. Provides direct patient care to assigned patient age group(s).
  • Demonstrates a commitment to patient, visitor and staff by complying with all applicable safety regulations; learning the impact of medical errors and methodology that will lead to reduction of errors; reporting actual and potential errors, as well as hazardous conditions; identifying opportunities to standardize processes and "error proof" systems that will lead to increased safety; and participating in safety education programs and root cause analyzes as required.
  • Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessment, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
  • Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
  • Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.

Travel Requirements:

  • Estimated Amount: 10% - Required travel.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelors Degree Required

Work Experience:

  • 3 years Relevant experience. Required

Licenses:

  • Licensed Registered Nurse Upon Hire Required or
  • Registered Nurse Multi State License Upon Hire Required and
  • Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required
