Director, Clinical Transformation

General Summary

Leads WellSpan's industry-leading population health data analytics team and serves as a strategy lead in Clinical Value Transformation (CVT) and waste reduction throughout the WellSpan Health system and WellSpan Provider Network. The Director will work with service line leaders, independent practices, and colleagues from Finance, Quality, and others to facilitate adoption of clinical best practices aligning CVT initiatives with broader organizational priorities, including operational effectiveness, quality improvement, patient safety, and the patient/family experience. Central to this role will be continual assessment, development, monitoring, management, and maximization of WellSpan's population health data analytics resources to meet system strategies and operations needs. This leader will be instrumental in developing and maintaining sustainable operational structures that advance clinical transformation initiatives, aligning resources and practices to achieve measurable clinical and financial outcomes. This position is responsible for ensuring that CVT efforts are fully integrated into the system's operational framework, with accountability for both annual strategic goals and fiscal outcomes. Key to success in this role will be fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration across the health system, including working closely with service line leaders and independent practices to reduce clinical variation, optimize resource utilization, and standardize best practices across the network.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides direct supervision for the WellSpan's Population Health Data Analytics clinical transformation specialists and consultants responsible for engaging in CVT work through the health system and independent practices with close collaboration from WellSPan's Provider Network leadership and Population Health medical directors.
  • Drives the development, implementation, and ongoing refinement of industry-leading operational and data analytics structures to support CVT goals, ensuring sustainability and alignment with broader organizational strategies. Deep expertise in performing claims and clinical data analytics is a requirement. Fluency in Arcadia and Epic data analytics is favored.
  • Leads the development of short- and long-term strategic plans and operational structures for CVT initiatives, driving both system-wide and service line-specific efforts to meet established performance and fiscal outcomes, delivering on strategies to reduce unnecessary healthcare utilization, improve quality, and reduce costs.
  • Leads monitoring, development, implementation, and maximization of short and long-range population health data analytics needs in partnership with the Analytics Center of Excellence and system IT leadership. manage an analytics roadmap that meets population health strategic and operational objectives and maximizes long-term capabilities.
  • Serve as a key liaison across service lines, hospitals, independent practices, and value based care partners ensuring effective communication and coordination of CVT efforts and improving population health data literacy across the system.
  • Maintains excellent communication and interpersonal relationships with service line leaders and independent WellSpan Provider Network practices to foster growth in the culture of clinical value based care and waste reduction inclusive of sharing of best practices across the network.
  • Engages service line leaders and independent practices and WellSpan Population Health governance in ongoing value based care performance assessments
  • Maintains strong relationships with data analytics vendors used by WellSpan to facilitate continued system leadership in clinical, claims, and social determinant of health data analytics.
  • Monitors physician/APP/employee engagement across the service lines with ongoing development, monitoring and measurement of collaboration to ensure consistent processes across the system.
  • In concert with IS, participates in the planning and implementation strategies for new IS initiates, as needed. Ensures compliance with all policies and procedures as established by the WellSpan Information Technology Leadership Team.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

  • Masters Degree Required

Work Experience:

  • 5 years Healthcare operation experience, clinical variation and waste reduction experience, healthcare claims and clinical data analytics experience. Required
  • Experience using Epic and Arcadia. Preferred

Driver's License Statement:

Must possess a valid driver's license in the current state of residence. Driving record must meet requirements established by WellSpan Risk Management.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, managerial and computer skills.
  • Knowledge in the principles, theories and environments that are key factors to success including LDMS.
