We are currently seeking a part time Phase 2 Director (physician) to join our team in York, PA. Position will be approximately 8 hrs/week to begin with increasing responsibility over time.

General Summary:

  • Under the direction of the Campus Associate Dean, and the Campus Assistant Dean - Undergraduate Medical Education, the Phase 2 Director for the Medical School Campus will function within the Temple University Lewis Katz School of Medicine at WellSpan Health. The Director will oversee the required Core Clerkship clinical rotations in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, Psychiatry, and Surgery. This is a WellSpan Health role primarily functioning to support the Temple University Lewis Katz School of Medicine at WellSpan Health campus and students.

Essential Functions:

  • Serve as the Director and primary physician oversight for the Core Clerkship clinical rotations at the Medical School Campus at WellSpan Health
  • Ensure alignment of staff efforts with educational goals and provide regular feedback to support professional development
  • Oversee all areas of the Phase 2 portion of the MD curriculum, in conjunction with the Phase 2 staff and leadership at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University
  • Collaborate with faculty physicians, educators, administrators and external partners to identify educational needs and enhance the impact of medical education programs.
  • Oversee departmental meetings
  • Collaborate with others in recruiting prospective medical candidates

Ideal Candidate:

  • MD or DO, or equivalent physician training program required
  • Candidate will receive an appropriate Faculty Appointment in the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) Required or
  • Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) Required or
  • Doctorate In an equivalent physician training program (e.g., MBBS) Required

Work Experience:

  • Prior experience in a medical school regional campus or program, or other Medical Education setting related to teaching and evaluation, interviewing, and admission of medical school applicants, residents/fellows, or other health education program applicants. Preferred

Licenses:

  • Licensed Medical Physician and Surgeon Upon Hire Required or
  • Licensed Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Upon Hire Required

Courses and Training:

  • Receives a faculty appointment, at the appropriate rank, at the Temple University Lewis Katz School of Medicine. within 120 days Required
  • Completes appropriate faculty development activities, courses, seminars, and/or other sessions, as required to maintain faculty appointment at the Temple University Lewis Katz School of Medicine within 1 year and annually thereafter. within 1 year Required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Current foundational skills and information related to the medical school curriculum, indicators of applicant success, strong knowledge of Admissions criteria and requirements, and mechanics of a formal medical school interview.
  • Develop and lead review of applicant qualifications, screening items and criteria. Participate in formal applicant interviews, review and scoring of applicants/interviews, and applicant ranking and offer lists.
