Position Summary:

General Summary:

 


Under general supervision, develops, coordinates and presents childbirth education programs for the community.

 


Duties and Responsibilities:

 


1 Provides accurate information about the physiology, psychology, and sociology of pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum, and early parenthood.
2 Provides skills to assist women and their support persons to cope with pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum, and early parenthood.
3 Acts as a facilitator who helps couples better understand and value their experience as they transition into parenthood.
4 Provides an avenue for communication between the pregnant women and other members of the health care team.
5 Serves as an advocate for pregnant women, their partners and infants.
6 Communicates accurate information about pregnancy, childbirth, childcare, and early parenthood in a clear, concise, understandable manner
7 Serves as a resource to the community by developing and planning programs in response to identified needs.


Required Skills

Minimum Education

Diploma in Nursing or Associate's Degree

 

 

Minimum Experience

1 - 2 years in OB specialty (labor and delivery, maternity, NICU)

 

 

Pref. Cert/Registration

Registration and current RN license in PA;

CPR certification

Required Experience

Pref. Field Of Expertise

Experience as an educator in a health related field/organization
