Specializes in surgical procedures of the heart, lungs, esophagus, and other organs in the chest.

The organization is comprised of eight awarding winning hospitals, 23,000 + employees, and over 200 patient care locations. The Cardiac Surgery team is seeking a 5th surgeon to join their collegial team.

About the Practice

  • Collaborative relationship with excellent cardiology & critical care teams.
  • Large multidisciplinary Advance Heart Failure program
  • Robust Mechanical Support/Destination LVAD Program
  • Experienced APP support staff take first call at night.
  • WellSpan York Hospital (YH) is a 600-bed tertiary care hospital & Level I trauma center.
  • 500,000+ patients within the six county WellSpan footprint.
  • Six busy WellSpan cardiology practices ensure a steady stream of complex referrals.
  • The program is growing exponentially with 425+ cardiac surgeries performed in the last year.
  • YH's Cardiology Fellowship will welcome its first class in 2024.
  • Ideal candidate will be board certified in CT Surgery with demonstrated clinical expertise.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in a high-volume CABG/valve surgery program preferred.
  • Subspeciality training in TAVR, Mitral Valve Repair & Minimally Invasive Surgery welcome.
  • Lifestyle schedule structured to avoid surgeon burnout.
  • Surgeons currently have two long (4-5 day) weekends off per month.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

  • Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) Required or
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) Required

Licenses:

  • Licensed Medical Physician and Surgeon Upon Hire Required or
  • Licensed Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Upon Hire Required

Courses and Training:

  • Certification by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery with experience as a practicing cardiothoracic surgeon in the United States. Upon Hire Required and
  • Successful completion of a General Surgery residency. Upon Hire Required and
  • Must qualify and be a member of the Medical Staff of the Hospital. Upon Hire Required
