WellSpan York Hospital (YH) is the central hub of the system with a 600-bed tertiary care hospital & Level I trauma center. Six busy WellSpan Cardiology practices ensure a steady stream of complex referrals. One of our 4 cardiac surgeons is retiring soon and we are seeking a surgeon to join our collegial team.

About the Practice

  • The Cardiac Surgery program is growing with an anticipated 425+ index cardiac surgery cases performed this year.

  • Busy structural heart program on track to perform 300+ TAVR’s, 25+ MitraClips, 70 PFO closures and 175 Watchmans this year.

  • Ideal candidate will be board certified in CT Surgery with demonstrated clinical expertise and quality outcomes.

  • Minimum of five years of experience in a high-volume CABG/valve surgery program required.

  • Subspeciality training in Aortic/Endovascular, Mitral Valve Repair, LVAD & Minimally Invasive Surgery welcome.

  • Intensivists provide comprehensive 24/7 Critical Care and ECMO coverage.

  • Highly skilled subspecialty cardiology teams – Complex Interventional/Structural Heart/EP/Cardiac Imaging/Heart Failure/Inherited Cardiovascular Disease.

  • Large, multidisciplinary Advance Heart Failure program

  • Robust Mechanical Support/Destination LVAD Program

  • Experienced APP support staff with endoscopic vein and radial artery experience.

  • 5 APP support staff take first call at night.

  • Collaborative relationships with fully staffed WellSpan Thoracic and Vascular Surgery programs.

  • York Hospital’s Cardiology Fellowship will welcome its first class in 2024.

In fact, the current surgeons have primary homes in Maine, South Carolina, Baltimore and Kansas City.
