Cardiac Rehabilitation Technician - Cardiac Rehab - Day

Location: Ephrata Community Hospital, Ephrata, PA
Schedule: Part Time

Part Time, Day Shift (40 hours biweekly)
Hours: 5 days biweekly (3 days one week alternating with 2 days the following week), 8:00am - 4:30pm

General Summary

Assists patients who have experienced heart disease through monitored exercise sessions including duties performed prior to, during and after the session. Follows the individual treatment plan in providing safe, quality care in a patient centered environment.

Essential Functions:

  • Able to identify arrhythmias and the symptomatic patient, assisting the RN in clinical urgent/emergent situations as needed.
  • Proficient in performing 12-lead EKG per protocol.
  • Ability to multi-task and remain calm and patient under pressure.
  • Must have outstanding verbal communication skills and be able to work well with patients from a variety of backgrounds.
  • Must maintain a positive attitude and be a source of positivity for the cardiac rehab patients.
  • Proficient in performing blood pressures and taking pulses.
  • Accurate in all documentation in computer or on paper.
  • Proficient in performing glucometer blood sugar testing.
  • Monitors and assists patients with 6 min. walk studies as needed.
  • Assists patients to and from the exercise equipment if needed and sets up exercise equipment when needed
  • Assists patients applying cardiac monitors.
  • Follows all infection control and covid-19 related protocols, demonstrating appropriate cleaning of all equipment and meticulous handwashing.
  • Knowledgeable of all exercises done including machines, weights and stretches, and able to effectively teach patients regarding use and benefits related to their health & fitness.
  • Responsible for ordering supplies when needed, understanding materials management and lawson ordering protocols.
  • Answers telephone when needed, routes calls, takes messages and provides information as appropriate.

  • Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessment, safety, environmental and infection control standards.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED Required
  • Certificate Program Graduate of cardiology program with CCT certificate or medical office assistant training. Preferred

Work Experience:

  • 1 year Relevant experience. Required

Licenses:

  • Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required

Courses and Training:

  • Basic EKG course for cardiac arrhythmias/rhythm recognition. Upon Hire Required
