Program Description:

Located in Lancaster County, the Center for Autism and Developmental Disabilities (CADD) is a regional center of excellence that serves patients and families in Central Pennsylvania. We have a multidisciplinary team (from the fields of psychiatry, nursing, psychology, applied behavior analysis, social work, and counseling) with recognized expertise in the treatment of the social, emotional, and behavioral issues affecting individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Intellectual Disability (ID). We offer center-based services, which include diagnostic evaluations, short-term consultation and ongoing treatment. In addition, we provide community-based ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) behavioral treatment in the home and community for adults.

Job Description:

Practices under the ongoing supervision of a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Conducts descriptive behavioral assessments and is able to interpret the results and design ethical and effective behavior analytic interventions for patients. Designs and oversees interventions in familiar cases (e.g., similar to those encountered during their training) that are consistent with the dimensions of applied behavior analysis. Is able to teach others to carry out interventions and supervise behavioral technicians once they have demonstrated competency with the procedures involved under the direct supervision of a BCBA.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Assesses environmental variables associated with the learning and maintenance of safe and socially acceptable behaviors as well as the reduction of problematic behaviors.
  2. Establishes & maintains therapeutic relationship by pairing self as a reinforcing entity and building the value for the patient of social interaction with the Assistant BA.
  3. Teaches and increases the use of safe and socially acceptable behaviors through the use of prompting, differential reinforcement, and transference of stimulus control.
  4. Accurately collects and analyzes behavior data to make decisions about treatment interventions.
  5. Designs treatment plan goals and interventions utilizing sound judgment and seeks out appropriate consultation with BCBA when encountering treatment programming that has not been directly trained.
  6. Provides training and monitors fidelity of behavioral interventions for family members and other professional staff caring for the patient.
  7. Models correct use of behavior interventions for parents and professionals and provides prompting for parents and professionals to engage in behavior interventions independently.
  8. Collaborates with family and treatment team members to provide treatment effectively and without disruption to the environment or other individuals in the environment.
  9. Educates all those involved about the role of ABA based interventions and the Assistant BA, and functions within boundaries of the Assistant BA role in providing treatment.
  10. Understands and designs behavioral plans and programming within the regulatory scope of the service provided.
  11. Maintains awareness of patient’s history, present status, diagnoses, and treatment plan.
  12. Maintains appropriate written documentation of direct and in direct service with the patient and family.
  13. Provides complete, timely, clear, and legible documentation in the appropriate format and on the appropriate forms.
 

Qualifications

  • Minimum Experience:
    • Must be at least 18 years old
    • Knowledge of and ability in the care and support of specific client groups.
  • Minimum Education:
    • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum Field Of Expertise:
    • Behavioral health, human services; non-behavioral degree holders require 1 year of full-time paid work experience with individuals with developmental/intellectual disabilities
  • Skills:
    • Excellent human relations and oral/written communication skills; analytical abilities; visual ability to observe patient behavior while running behavioral data
    • Must possess a valid driver’s license in the current state of residence. Driving record must meet requirements established by WellSpan Risk Management.
