General Summary:

Under general supervision, the Administrative Fellow has the opportunity to work with senior management in various business functions.  The Administrative Fellowship provides the Administrative Fellow with a structured field experience, a foundation for professional development and the opportunity to clarify career goals while developing and enhancing a personal management philosophy.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Develops an understanding of the organization’s mission, administrative structure, the operation and interrelationship of major units within the organization and the means through which the organization carries out the following functions: planning, human resource management, marketing, community and information management, financial management and resource allocation, and risk management.
  2. Applies and tests administrative theory and tools in a ‘real world’ setting.
  3. Works closely with mentor(s) to acquire in-depth understanding of attitudes and beliefs concerning quality of patient care, strategic thinking, operations management, interpersonal skills, professional socialization, analysis of political processes, community relationships and ethical issues.
  4. Attends meetings internal to the organization such as: department head, briefings, coordinating counsel, quality assurance, board of trustees, executive committee, finance committee, medical staff, medical records, infection control, information management, administrative staff, and long range planning committees.
  5. Performs projects as assigned such as: board reports, personnel management, marketing/planning, formal presentations.
  6. Performs studies for the organization such as: marketing/planning, evaluation of an operation, strategic planning activities, and gather financial and statistical data within institution.
  7. Assumes responsibilities within the organization such as: on-call duty, employee picnic chairperson, campaign chairperson, experience leadership in both small and large groups; department accountability, and line responsibility.

Required Skills

Minimum Education: Completed course work in Master’s in Healthcare Administration or an MBA with an emphasis on healthcare

Will consider new grads from the spring class of 2019.
