Accountant Associate

General Summary

Provides clerical and mid level financial support and assistance in the preparation of budgets, third party cost reports, medical reviews, chargemaster support, billing reviews, revenue management projects, industry and governmental surveys and information filings, and other financial studies and analyses as needed

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Responds directly and provides support to System directors and managers regarding monthly financial reporting related questions.
  • Supports Vice President-Treasury Management Services with provision of statistics and generation of graphs for quarterly and annual reporting to creditors and rating agencies.
  • Provides presentation support to various individuals including the CFO, Vice President-Finance and the Vice President-Treasury Management Services. Supports reporting that is presented to governance, senior management and external audiences.
  • Responsible for the timely compilation of the monthly financial statement packets to be distributed to the various boards and York Hospital Operations Leadership Team meetings.
  • Completes, for Director's and Manager's review, various government and industry financial surveys independently using a variety of data sources. Reporting includes Volunteer Hospital Association data requests, Pa Health Care Cost Containment Council financial data reporting and Medicare Provider enrollment and change reporting.
  • Independently compiles data for and assists in the preparation of regularly scheduled or special reports, analyses and financial statements using various source systems.
  • Enters and/or retrieves data from established computer files using knowledge of various computer software applications.
  • Maintains departmental reports and records and collects statistical data for administrative and regulatory purposes.
  • Maintains and supports the Dept Director in monitoring dept staffs' compliance with mandatory education courses
  • Supports the Dept Director in maintaining staff time records.
  • As part of the Medicare annual cost reporting process, works with employed physicians and administrators to ensure the completion of physician time studies to optimize reimbursement from the Medicare program related to Medical Education Programs.
  • Trains Directors and Managers how to use the operating budget software
  • Develops new reports and maintains existing reports as requested by senior management using the general ledger and budget systems.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED Required

Work Experience:

  • 1 year Financial, administrative or related financial support experience. Required

Courses and Training:

  • Business Upon Hire Preferred
