WellSpan Health, a mission-driven, physician-led integrated health system serving communities across Central Pennsylvania and Northern Maryland, is seeking a dedicated and dynamic OB/GYN Residency Program Director to join our Residency team at WellSpan York Hospital.

In this vital leadership role, you will enhance resident education and foster a culture of academic excellence. You'll have the opportunity to mentor and teach MD and DO residents and medical students, participate in teaching rounds, and maintain a thriving practice

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Program Director, holding the authority and accountability for all aspects of the OB/GYN residency program, including adherence to ACGME standards
  • Oversee accreditation management, including data submission through ACGME ADS, addressing site visits, and ensuring Program Letter of Agreements (PLAs) are current.
  • Lead curriculum development, assessment and implementation of competency-based milestones, resident supervision, clinical rotations, wellness, and duty hours compliance.
  • Collaborate with Clinical Faculty, the DIO, and institutional leadership to ensure sufficient educational resources, supervision, and multidisciplinary support.
  • Manage and mentor faculty and associate program directors, ensuring coverage and succession planning.
  • Provide scholarly guidance and oversight for resident research initiatives.

Qualifications

  • MD or DO, Board-Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
  • Active, unrestricted medical license in Pennsylvania.
  • Strong administrative and educational leadership, including evidence of faculty development and teaching excellence.
  • ACGME expects the program director to retain continuity in the role; a demonstrated record of stability in leadership is preferred.
  • Proven experience in residency program administration or similar leadership roles.
  • Preferred Qualifications
    - Prior experience as an Associate/Assistant Program Director.
    - Scholarly activity portfolio including peer-reviewed publications, educational research, and clinical innovation.
    - Proficiency with ACGME systems, case-log tracking, and exposure to national resident evaluation processes.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) Required or
  • Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) Required

Work Experience:

  • 5 years Experience as clinician, administrator and educator. Required and
  • Experience in ambulatory primary health care for women. Required

Licenses:

  • Licensed Medical Physician and Surgeon Upon Hire Required or
  • Licensed Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Upon Hire Required

Courses and Training:

  • Diplomate of the American Board of OB/GYN or the American Osteopathic Board of OB/GYN. Upon Hire Required and
  • Subspecialty certification if applicable. Upon Hire Required and
  • Completion of an OB/GYN residency. Upon Hire Required and
  • Must qualify and be a member of the Medical Staff of York Hospital. Upon Hire Required
  • Completion of a subspecialty fellowship. Upon Hire Preferred
