We are currently seeking a part-time Assistant Dean to join our team in York, PA.  Position will be approximately 8 hrs/week to begin with increasing responsibility over time. 

General Summary:

Under the direction of the Associate Dean – Medical School Campus/Chief Academic Officer, the Assistant Dean – Undergraduate Medical Education (UME) will function within the Temple University Lewis Katz School of Medicine at WellSpan Health.  The Assistant Dean will oversee all aspects of medical student education at the WellSpan campus.  This role will be key in attaining and maintaining Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) accreditation and ensuring outstanding student experiences and learning in all three phases of the curriculum. Additionally, the Assistant Dean-UME will assist in all aspects of campus leadership and operations, from Admissions to foundational science education, to clinical rotations, to research and scientific inquiry, to the evaluation and improvement process, and to Transition to Residency training.  This is a WellSpan Health-supported role primarily functioning to support the Temple University Lewis Katz School of Medicine at WellSpan Health campus and students. 

Essential Functions:

  • Serve as the primary leader for medical student education curriculum at the Temple University Lewis Katz School of Medicine (LKSOM) at WellSpan Health campus.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with the Phase Directors and Assistant Directors, faculty, and students.
  • Help to build and nurture relationships with students, faculty, and Medical School Campus staff, as well as LKSOM students, faculty, and staff at the North Philadelphia and St. Luke’s campuses.
  • Participate in applicant interviews, including completion of ratings and rankings of applicants
  • Plan, implement, and revise all core education strategies and initiatives, as directed by the Associate Dean, the Assistant Dean-Education, and the full leadership of the Temple University Lewis Katz School of Medicine
  • Ensure integration of foundational sciences, clinical skills, and professional identity formation.  Collaborate with academic and clinical departments to promote improvement and innovation in pedagogy, assessment, and clinical training.
  • Ensure exceptional student educational experiences at all levels of the curriculum.

Ideal Candidate:

MD or DO, or equivalent physician training program required
