General Summary:


Under general supervision, provides information on the status of surgery patients to their families during the wait for completion of surgery and recovery.  Tracks patients' progress to surgery, thru recovery and to their rooms.  Serves as go between for staff and family members.  Provides encouragement and calms distraught family members as appropriate.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Tracks patients' progress to surgery, thru recovery and to their rooms.
  • Communicates with appropriate staff members to obtain status and progress reports. Keeps family members updated on a regular basis.
  • Provides encouragement and calms distraught family members as appropriate.
  • Prepares and maintains appropriate documentation as required.
Required Skills


  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Must be a highly energetic, positive and enthusiastic team player
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills with the ability to build rapport quickly and develop trust
  • Ability to manage high volume of interpersonal relationships with tact and diplomacy
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills are essential
