Transporter - Day/Evening/Night

Job Description:

Under direct supervision, performs activities related to transportation of patients. Follows established safety guidelines and uses appropriate devices when transporting patients. Provides messenger services on request.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Transports patients to and from clinical, ancillary and support department areas as directed.
  2. Assists clinical personnel in transferring patients to or from beds, chairs, wheelchairs or stretchers using appropriate body mechanics to perform patient lifts.
  3. Assists with care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies.
 

NonEssential Accountabilities:

  1. Performs dispatching duties such as receiving transport requests, dispatching available transporters based on established priorities, coordinating transports to minimize delays and maintaining appropriate documentation.
  2. Attends meetings as required.
  3. Performs other related duties as identified.
 

Common Expectations:

  1. Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessment, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
  2. Participates in educational programs and inservice meetings.
  3. Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.

  • Minimum Experience:
    • Up to 1 month
  • Minimum Education:
    • High School or G.E.D.
  • Required Certification:
    • CPR certification
  • Physical Demands:
    • Prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing/walking
    • Lifts, positions, pushes and/or transfers patients

Established in 1800, Adams County includes the borough of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. Home to more than 100,000 residents, the town is a mecca for Civil War history buffs and visitors who come to tour the Gettysburg National Battlefield and Gettysburg National Military Park and see the annual Civil War reenactment.
