Job Description:
Under direct supervision, performs a variety of duties relative to transportation of patients and cleaning, performing preventive maintenance, storing and/or sterilizing medical equipment. Follows established safety guidelines and uses appropriate devices when transporting patients. Provides messenger services on request.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Transports patients to and from clinical, ancillary and support department areas as directed.
- Assists clinical personnel in transferring patients to or from beds, chairs, wheelchairs or stretchers using appropriate body mechanics to perform patient lifts.
- Cleans, distributes and/or delivers equipment to CSR for sterilization on an as needed basis; does minor trouble shooting and preventive maintenance of equipment when necessary.
- Checks equipment, supplies and accessories on a regular basis.
- Obtains and returns required equipment.
- Sets up and removes equipment and supplies; ensures equipment is functioning properly and stored appropriately.
- Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment.
- Maintains appropriate records, reports, and files as required.
Qualifications:
- Highly resourceful team-player, with the ability to also be extremely effective independently
- Excellent customer service and communication skills with the ability to build rapport quickly
- Attention to detail and organizational skills are essential
Minimum Education:
High School Diploma or G.E.D.
