Trades Specialist (HVAC Specialist) - Full Time

Location: WellSpan Health, York, PA
Schedule: Full Time

HVAC Trade Specialist - HVAC Experience Required**

Full time (80 hours biweekly)

Monday - Friday 7:00am - 3:30pm

May be required to work off shift hours and weekends if / when needed.

General Summary

Will provide a high level of specialized and skilled oversight and support for the facility team. The task at hand could include electrical, plumbing, HVAC, mechanical, carpentry, electronics, or project management. The incumbent will possess an in-depth and fully comprehensive understanding for the design, installation, or maintenance of such given trade. The position may be assigned to work along with and/or monitor a technician or team to accomplish a given task or assignment. It will also require a hands-on approach in providing advanced maintenance, repair and/or testing. Leadership is essential as the person leads by example in performing in accordance with operational and safety policies. This position may be used system wide for supervision of contractors, vendors, and WellSpan Facility team members. Will be looked to train and educate WellSpan staff. Healthcare experience preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Performs advanced maintenance, repairs, testing and inspection in at least one of the following trades: HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Electronics, Mechanical, Carpentry, General Construction
  • In a consultant-like manner, evaluates and makes suggestions to leadership with regards to their specialized trade.
  • Works with leadership to develop and apply the necessary and required preventative maintenance programs and documentation. Application of this information will be monitored within the CMMS system.
  • May provides oversight of contractors, vendors and in-house staff as assigned.
  • Upon receiving specialized assignments from management, may prioritize and schedule services and/or manpower as assigned.
  • Supports and provides the training process for WellSpan staffing.
  • Inspects equipment, tools, materials, facilities, building systems and procedures identifying deficiencies and unsafe conditions.
  • Prepares, organizes, and maintains records, logs, reports and documentation.
  • Works with outside contractors and salespeople to assure supplies, equipment and contracts are purchased as efficient as possible. Orders or causes to be ordered, specialized parts and equipment.
  • Assists Department Managers with the budgeting process.
  • Provides security and safety to patients, visitors and staff.
  • Assists or leads as assigned project management in the development of the proposal to full completion of the project.
  • Assists or leads as assigned regulatory compliance efforts as it pertains to the facility.
  • In addition to direct trade responsibilities may handle ancillary duties such as infectious waste collection, boiler room supervision, off-site coordination, vehicle maintenance, snow removal, deliveries, elevators, etc.

  • Attends meetings as required.
  • Supports organizational functions and activities as needed.
  • The working hours may vary and are specific to the given need. Evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays are possible.
  • Will need to be able to field phone calls and participate in the on-call schedule.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

  • Certificate Program Post High School Vocational/Specialized Training Required

Work Experience:

  • 5 years Related experience Required and
  • Supervisory experience Preferred

Courses and Training:

  • Advanced certification or designation in specialty trade. Upon Hire Preferred and
  • Trade school apprenticeship program (carpentry, plumbing, electrical, etc.) Upon Hire Preferred and
  • Advanced training documentation within given trade. Upon Hire Preferred
