Located at York Hospital

Full time (80 hours biweekly) 

Monday -Friday 7am - 3:30pm with ability to work as part of an on-call rotation required

Required to work off shift hours and weekends if necessary to complete projects and task as it related to the medical field

Job Description

Under general supervision, will provide a high level of specialized and skilled oversight and support for the facility team. The task at hand could include electrical, plumbing, HVAC, mechanical, carpentry, electronics or project management. The incumbent will possess an in-depth and fully comprehensive understanding for the design, installation or maintenance of such given trade. The position may be assigned to work along with and/or monitor a technician or team to accomplish a given task or assignment. It will also require a hands-on approach in providing advanced maintenance, repair and/or testing. Leadership is essential as the person leads by example in performing in accordance with operational and safety policies. This position may be used system wide for supervision of contractors, vendors and WellSpan Facility team members. Will be looked to train and educate WellSpan staff. Healthcare experience preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Performs advanced maintenance, repairs, testing and inspection in at least one of the following trades: HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Electronics, Mechanical, Carpentry, General Construction
2. In a consultant-like manner, evaluates and makes suggestions to leadership with regards to their specialized trade.
3. Works with leadership to develop and apply the necessary and required preventative maintenance programs and documentation. Application of this information will be monitored within the CMMS system.
4. May provides oversight of contractors, vendors and in-house staff as assigned.
5. Upon receiving specialized assignments from management, may prioritize and schedule services and/or manpower as assigned.
6. Supports and provides the training process for WellSpan staffing.
7. Inspects equipment, tools, materials, facilities, building systems and procedures identifying deficiencies and unsafe conditions.
8. Prepares, organizes and maintains records, logs, reports and documentation.
9. Works with outside contractors and salespeople to assure supplies, equipment and contracts are purchased as efficient as possible. Orders or causes to be ordered, specialized parts and equipment.
10. Assist Department Managers with the budgeting process.
11. Provides security and safety to patients, visitors and staff.
12. Assist or lead as assigned project management in the development of the proposal to full completion of the project.
13. Assist or lead as assigned regulatory compliance efforts as it pertains to the facility.
14. In addition to direct trade responsibilities may handle ancillary duties such as infectious waste collection, boiler room supervision, off-site coordination, vehicle maintenance, snow removal, deliveries, elevators, etc.
15. Attends meetings as required.
16. Performs other related duties as identified.
17. Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessment, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
18. Exhibits positive character and a strong work ethic.
19. Participates in educational programs and in-service meetings.
20. Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.
21. Oversees and supports training programs for staff and promotes employee development.
22. Expected to work though “pressure” situations on a constant basis.
23. Demonstrates guest relation principles.
24. Attends meetings as required.
25. Supports organizational functions and activities as needed.
26. The working hours may vary and are specific to the given need. Evenings, nights, weekends and holidays are possible.
27. Will need to be able to field phone calls and participate in the on-call schedule.

Qualifications

• Minimum Experience:
  • 5-10 years
• Minimum Education:
  • Post High School Vocational/Specialized Training
• Required Skills:
  • Strong Electrical/Generator background knowledge required
• Preferred Certification:
  • Advanced certification or designation in your specialty trade is recommended.
• Required Courses:
  • Trade school apprenticeship program preferred (carpentry, plumbing, electrical, etc.)
