General Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Project One Technical Director, provides supervision to  Epic technical/infrastructure staff.  Provides oversight and coordination with vendors, applications teams, other technical teams, and end-users as necessary.  Oversees and ensures compliance with processes and policies for change control and testing.  Collaborates across all teams for coordination on upgrades, environments, and projects as necessary.  Provides second level problem resolution, staff training and quality monitoring. Collaborates with project leadership to provide oversight for strategic applicable scope of oversight planning, testing and implementation. Facilitates excellent teamwork within project teams and with customer teams.  Scope of Influence:  Project One/Epic technical team staff, Application Coordinators, various other Applications/Technical/Security Team Members, Project Manager(s) and Subject Matter Experts on specific project tasks.

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  1. Mentors staff within the technical teams and provides guidance/feedback for related Project One staff tasks as applicable for technical scope of roles.
  2. Collaborates with customer/application/IT teams and project teams to facilitate the design and implementation of operational policies and procedures.  Ensures that standard work is established for relevant workflows and procedures.
  3. Provides planning and coordination of implementation/testing for relevant projects and upgrades, or other infrastructure-impacted events, including but not limited to Monthly Maintenance and upgrades/updates.
  4. Prepares status reports for management.
  5. Coordinates related infrastructure/security activity across physical (buildings, grounds), infrastructure (network, servers, operating system) and application (Epic or non-Epic) teams.
  6. Participates in or coordinates as appropriate, periodic/perpetual audits as directed.
  7. Interfaces with other IS areas in the design phase for definition of applicable Epic requirements.  Performs consulting function for new/updated requirements relating to applications and systems to ensure “best practices” are applied.
  8. Provides advanced problem-solving for issues across a variety of systems and applications.
  9. Contributes to healthcare enterprise and subject area implementations and serves as project leader for relevant technical area(s) within a team.  Reviews and analyzes systems/infrastructure/security effectiveness and efficiency and assists director in developing strategies and roadmaps for improvement/expansion to ensure Epic environment stability, security, performance and high availability.
  10. Recommends enhancements/updates to environment and infrastructure that support continuous improvement and compliance with all applicable legal/regulatory requirements.
  11. Provides Epic user/analyst education and awareness of relevant best practices and environment/user/change control management.
  12. Understands the Epic data courier, testing and software/environment structures and configuration/implementation, and related infrastructures and tools supporting Epic and connected non-Epic applications and technologies.
  13. Cultivates and disseminates knowledge of technology/application change management best practices.  Coordinates applicable technical and software update testing cycles for changes.
  14. Manages and provides day-to-day direction for technical team in support of enterprise/project operations and teamwork.  Manages schedules and priorities to ensure work is properly resourced.

 

Qualifications:

 

  Note:                          Other combinations of formal education, training and experience may be considered.

 

  Minimum Education:      Bachelor’s Degree.

 

  Minimum Experience:    5-10 years of experience in Epic and/or related operating systems, technologies and applications. Any experience with ODB, ECSA, and Cogito is preferred. 

 

  Min Field Of Expertise:  Computer science or technically related field

 

  Certification:                Applicable Epic Certification(s) for application(s) supported must be achieved within 6 months of hire date

 

 

  Skills: Other                 Excellent technical communication & troubleshooting skills; Knowledge of general security practices
