General Summary
Under general supervision, provides patient exam scheduling services. Provides receptionist support as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities
1 Works with physicians, patients, and facilities to schedule in-patient and out-patient surgeries, etc.
2 Reviews physician recommendations, patient demographics, and patient health history to ascertain appropriate pre-admission testing and verify insurance coverage and eligibility.
3 Works with appropriate sources to coordinate precertification requirements with PROs, HMOs and other contractual third parties.
4 Greets and registers patients in accordance with established policies and procedures.
5 Performs moderate typing, operates a CRT or related office equipment in fulfilling work assignments.
6 Answers telephones, routes callers, takes messages and provides routine information to callers.
7 Enters and/or retrieves data from established computer files using knowledge of various computer software applications.
8 Performs related receptionist and clerical functions as required.
Required Education / Experience
- High School or GED
- Experience with electronic health record is preferred
- 1-2 years experience in a medical office is preferred
- Scheduling experience in a medical office is a plus
