Surgical Scheduler
Job Description:
Provides administrative support for the organization by performing a variety of duties relating to scheduling of patients.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Schedules patient appointments within established parameters.
- Coordinates with appropriate personnel to facilitate creation of the surgical schedule and to ensure that needed equipment, supplies, personnel, and patient information is available for procedures. Prepares surgical schedule.
- Creates medical records for new patients.
- Keeps patient records current.
- Establishes and maintains files and records on an ongoing basis.
- Enters and/or retrieves data from established computer files using knowledge of various computer software applications.
- Answers telephones, routes callers, takes messages and provides routine information to callers.
Qualifications
- Minimum Experience:
- 3 - 6 months
- Minimum Education:
- High School or G.E.D.
- Preferred Field Of Expertise:
- Surgical scheduling experience
- Required Certification:
- BLS Certification
- Required Courses:
- Medical terminology
- Skills:
- Basic computer and typing skills; good communications and interpersonal skills
