Job Description

Under general supervision, provides patient exam scheduling services. Provides receptionist support as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Works with physicians, patients, and facilities to schedule in-patient and out-patient surgeries, etc.
  2. Reviews physician recommendations, patient demographics, and patient health history to ascertain appropriate pre-admission testing and verify insurance coverage and eligibility.
  3. Works with appropriate sources to coordinate precertification requirements with PROs, HMOs and other contractual third parties.
  4. Greets and registers patients in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  5. Performs moderate typing, operates a CRT or related office equipment in fulfilling work assignments.
  6. Answers telephones, routes callers, takes messages and provides routine information to callers.
  7. Enters and/or retrieves data from established computer files using knowledge of various computer software applications.
  8. Performs related receptionist and clerical functions as required.

Required Education & Experience

  • Minimum Experience:
    • 3 - 6 months
  • Minimum Education:
    • High School or G.E.D.
  • Required Courses:
    • Medical terminology
  • Coding and Billing experience is a plus
