Job Description:

Under the direct supervision of the Manager-WSH Hospital Access Operations, supervises the admission, outpatient registration, insurance verification, and greeter functions in accordance with Hospital policy and the daily operations of the Off-Site locations. Monitors and supervises the work activity of assigned staff.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Accountabilities:

  1. Ensures that the department functions run efficiently and effectively by overseeing day to day functions, scheduling staff and expediting problems.
  2. Reviews hospital admission and outpatient schedules to ensure adequate staffing is available for patient volume.
  3. Ensures accurate financial and biographical information has been obtained and properly entered into the appropriate records.
  4. Coordinates with medical, nursing and other hospital staff to ensure appropriate registration of patients and compliance with third party payers and other regulations.
  5. Reviews department operations to ensure compliance with all regulatory entities.
  6. Maintains and fosters effective public relations with patients and the public.
  7. May verify all insurance benefits assigned to the organization to determine if insurance coverage meets appropriate standards and corresponds with patients and/or Case Management to ensure correct assignment of benefits.
  8. Oversees the reporting process to ensure all outpatient registrations, insurance verifications and inpatient transactions are properly posted. Resolves errors, exceptions and unreconciled items promptly.
  9. Plans, conducts and supervises assigned projects.
  10. Creates training and educational materials and provides education to hospital departments and/or physician offices
 

Qualifications

 

  • Minimum Experience:
    • 2 - 3 years of supervisory experience necessary.
  • Minimum Education:
    • High School or G.E.D. Continuation/completion of higher education preferred.
  • Physical Demands:
    • Mostly sedentary work
