Job Description

The Social Media Manager is a proactive, innovative, and strategic communications professional who works to advance WellSpan Health’s image and reputation as a leading health care provider through strategic social media outreach and response. The Social Media Manager works to effectively position WellSpan’s care, experts, services, and impact among key stakeholders and helps to mitigate reputational risk through effective management of various social media platforms. The Social Media Manager contributes to an integrated, collaborative, data-driven Communications team that is known for high reliability and excellence in execution. The role reports to the Director of Communications and works closely and collaboratively with the Senior Manager – Digital Communications and the Senior Manager – Media Relations.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Develops and executes a comprehensive strategy for WellSpan’s corporate social media platforms using data and best practices.
  2. Works collaboratively with the Communications team and health system leaders to understand priorities and propose, develop and implement social media strategies to support specific annual plans and specific high-priority initiatives.
  3. Develops and executes multi-channel social media campaigns.
  4. Manages all WellSpan social media platforms including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter and others as needed or implemented. Manages content distribution using channels directly as well as other social media management tools.
  5. Identifies social media opportunities highlighting WellSpan’s mission, vision, values, clinical excellence, innovation and community impact, and other strategic priorities.
  6. Owns the social media content calendar and ensures posts and all assets are accurate, compelling, in our brand voice and aligned with WellSpan priorities.
  7. Manages organic and paid social content; including gathering, organizing, editing, posting and analyzing performance of content generated by team members.
  8. Curates, manages, writes and edits accurate and compelling social media content for all platforms.
  9. Ensures high quality images, graphics and other assets for all social posts.
  10. Recommends KPIs, tracks and analyzes performance across channels and proactively makes recommendations for improvement. Reports monthly, quarterly and annually on social media results.
  11. Creates and owns engagement strategy and monitors all comments and responds or escalates per established protocols.
  12. Monitors current events, social media and digital trends and changes in order to make strategic recommendations for enhancing WellSpan’s social media efforts.
  13. Provides social media training to WellSpan team members as needed.
  14. Supports social media needs after hours and on weekends when necessary.
  15. Supports crisis and disaster plans as needed.
  16. May support other writing needs on occasion.
  17. Obtains appropriate consent forms from interviewees and maintains compliance with HIPPA.
 

Qualifications

  • Minimum Experience:
    • 5-7 years managing a comprehensive social media program
      • Communications, Digital Media, Journalism or Public Relations, preferably with experience in a large, complex healthcare organization

 

  • Minimum Education:
    • Bachelor's Degree

 

  • Skills
    • Proven ability to apply communications strategies to high-level organizational priorities;
    • Proven experience developing effective, comprehensive social media strategies and analyses for an organization and for individual campaigns;
    • Proven ability to develop and implement strategies to increase share of voice;
    • Deep experience with social media management and analytics tools;
    • Experience with graphic design and photography software preferred;
    • Experience analyzing social media metrics and making recommendations to optimize results, detail-oriented; critical thinking;
    • Ability to successfully adapt to new processes and tools and work under tight deadlines; a
    • Ability to organize information and content for senior level approvals;
    • Superior writing and editing skills in alignment with AP Style and brand guidelines and solid interpersonal skills.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, Canva, and social media management tools such as Meltwater, Hootsuite, Sprout Social or other similar tools.
    • Experience in managing all aspects of social media platforms including Meta Business Suite and Meta Business Manager; Insights, Ad Manager, Google Analytics, and other relevant social media tools.
