Job Description:
Under the direct supervision of the sleep services regional manager, team leader and/or a registered sleep technologist, performs comprehensive polysomnographic testing, analysis and associated interventions according to established standards and practices.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Schedules, performs and evaluates the technical validity of overnight sleep studies, nocturnal pulse oximetry, and other related studies.
- Sets up and applies polysomnographic monitoring equipment, ensuring patient safety and accurate test results.
- Performs and evaluates the technical validity of the testing procedures.
- Reviews test results. Provides summary analysis and reports of all polysomnographic studies for physician review and interpretation.
- Instructs patient in use of home sleep apnea testing devices.
- Instructs and educates patient in use of therapeutic devices.
Qualifications:
- Minimum Experience:
- 6 - 12 months
- Minimum Education:
- Post High School Vocational/Specialized Training
- Preferred Education:
- Associate's Degree
- Required Certification:
- Registry eligible by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists; CPR certification
- Physical Demands:
- Light physical effort (lift/carry up to 10 lbs)
- Occasional heavy physical effort (lift/carry 26 to 50 lbs)
- Frequent prolonged standing/walking
- Lifts, positions, pushes and/or transfers patients
- Visual abilities: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
