Senior Vice President - Central Region

Location: WellSpan Health, York, PA
Schedule: Full Time

We are looking for a visionary and dynamic leader to join our executive team as the Senior Vice President, Central Region. Reporting to the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, this role will have full P&L responsibility for WellSpan's largest region with more than 4,300 dedicated employees and annual revenue of $2 billion. This region includes WellSpan York Hospital, a 593-bed community hospital and Level 1 Trauma Center and teaching facility, WellSpan Surgery & Rehabilitation Hospital, Apple Hill Surgery Center, and two new neighborhood hospitals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute the region's strategic plan, ensuring alignment with WellSpan 2030 and overarching enterprise goals.
  • Financial Management: Oversee and direct the financial performance of the region, including the development and monitoring of annual operating and capital budgets, and the implementation of corrective action plans to achieve financial goals.
  • Clinical Excellence: Champion innovation and continuous improvement, leading the development and implementation of performance improvement initiatives to enhance clinical quality, safety, and patient outcomes.
  • Operational Effectiveness: Drive operational excellence by identifying and delivering on new business opportunities, and by fostering a culture of best-in-class delivery models.
  • Community Engagement: Actively engage in the community and maintain a strong external presence, coordinating efforts with other market executives and key stakeholders.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all operations comply with regulatory standards and maintain the region's national awards and ratings, such as York Hospital's Leapfrog A rating and CMS 4 Star rating, and the Surgery & Rehabilitation Hospital's Magnet with Distinction status.
  • Board Management: Interface effectively with the Central Region Board of Directors, their associated committees, and charitable foundations, ensuring transparency and alignment.
  • Growth Initiatives: Lead the development of multi-year physician and provider development plans and steward the opening of a new $430 million tower at York Hospital, set to open in the fall of 2028, as well as the launch of two new neighborhood hospitals through the joint venture

Qualifications:

  • Educational Background: A Bachelor's Degree is required, with a Master's Degree in business management, health care management, or finance strongly preferred.
  • Experience: Over 10 years of healthcare operations experience, with progressive management responsibilities in a large and complex health system.
  • Analytical Skills: Proven ability to problem-solve, evaluate, plan, and direct complex process improvement projects and benchmarking activities.
  • Leadership: A track record of establishing trust, promoting collaboration, and maintaining visibility across all entities to foster positive working relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Quality and Safety: Knowledge of system process analysis and quality improvement, with a commitment to maintaining and enhancing the region's national awards and ratings.
  • Community Impact: Experience in community engagement and external relations, including developing and maintaining relationships with academic partners, local government officials, and community leaders.
