Job Description:


Under the general supervision of the Senior Vice President, WellSpan Central Region and President, WellSpan York Hospital, provides expert consultation on the design, development, and implementation of plans and projects related to facility development for critical care and surgical operations for a large teaching hospital.

Partners with executive leadership to develop prioritization of project undertaking, and coordination of capital project communications. Investigates innovations and operational excellence to ensure we design and implement operational excellence as we develop the healthcare campus of the future. Performs responsibilities utilizing Lean strategies and methodologies.

The Senior Director functions as a regional resource, with systems thinking in developing and executing clinical services and business strategies, conducting exhaustive market and competitive intelligence gathering, and supporting leadership with key analytical support. The Senior Director may work independently or as part of a project team.

This position will also work with Executive Sponsors, Service Line leaders, Physician leaders, Construction, leadership along with clinical subject matter experts and operational leaders responsible for the respective clinical areas.


Duties and Responsibilities


Leads and facilitates projects supporting new clinical technology.

Acts as an advisor and thought partner by leading teams to create, coordinate, and measure project plans and ensure that projects and deliverables are within scope, schedule, and quality levels are consistent with expectations,

Collaborates with interregional multi-disciplinary teams and clinical expert teams to gather data, manage analysis, and identify issues, summarizing information and making recommendations with relevant stakeholders to advance work and remove barriers

Routinely and proactively represents the executives- positions in meetings, committees and in developing functional projects, communication plans and effectiveness measures for related initiatives. New clinical technologies of interest will continue to evolve but will initially include digital touchpoints, along with integration of system wide applications & solutions.

Assesses needs and develops options and recommendations for future operational needs and resources

Develops high quality business cases for Critical Care Units, Surgical platform and ancillary needs including Central Sterile Processing capital projects

Views functional and space programs in adherence with approved business case approvals.

Regional deployment of system thinking and needs

Change Management acumen

Includes the planning and tracking of projects both (tactical and strategic), cost effectiveness, communication, risk analysis, quality assurance, team and vendor management, and implementation of highly visible, sensitive and multi-faceted projects. Identifies and resolves issues related to projects. Ensures assigned projects are delivered within scope, schedule, budget and quality levels.

Manages complex projects or multiple projects of moderate complexity.

Leverages knowledge and prior experience to develop appropriate solutions

Manages development of business case and may present business case

Leverages knowledge of and trains Project Management methodology, skills, tools for team members

Converts business cases to business plans

Develops framework and manages the tracking of interdependencies within or across projects

May determine the impact of current/existing technologies on the project

Interprets less defined guidelines to make recommendations for process improvements and/or enhancements

Ensures lessons learned applied to future efforts





5 - 8 years health care experience in managing large capital facility projects to completion. Demonstrated operational, change management and performance improvement accomplishments

Bachelor's Degree (Master’s Degree preferred)

Excellent written/oral communications, interpersonal and organizational skills; and strong project management skills;

Proven ability to work independently and in collaboration with larger teams and/or stakeholders;

Ability to manage projects to completion utilizing project plans and tracking tools;

Problem-solving and critical thinking skills;

Ability to coordinate logistics for meetings, set agendas, prepare complete and concise minutes, and update work and project plans accordingly;

Written and oral communication skills with proven ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management and respond to staff tactfully, clearly and concisely;

Ability to communicate project changes to stakeholders as required to assure project success;

Possess strong customer-service orientation with the ability to recognize, understand and meet the needs and expectations of all customers within the organization
